Your first rooftop party

Check what your rooftop ticket covers and plan for weather, seating and the trip upstairs.

Work out what you’re booking

A rooftop reservation might be a table, a timed entry ticket or a standing spot with a DJ. Check which one the booking includes. A table deposit may be credited toward spending, while a cover charge may cover entry alone. Ask how late the venue holds a table and whether all guests must arrive together.

Ask three questions before buying

  1. If it rains or gets windy, does the party move indoors, move dates or end?
  2. Is there an elevator to the event level, and does it stay available until the venue closes?
  3. What does each person pay after entry, any minimum spend and any service charges?

Pick your arrival window

For conversation and daylight, look for an earlier slot. For a DJ’s set, check when the music starts and whether your ticket expires at a specific hour. A reservation advertised for sunset may still be standing room. Bring a layer if the venue allows it, and send the group the street entrance because the elevator lobby can be hard to find.
